The Seattle Seahawks came away from the 2022 NFL Draft satisfied after picking up Michigan State’s award-winning running back Kenneth Walker III. The running back had proven himself to be a great player in college and would look to be the backup for Rashaad Penny in the upcoming season. Walker III taking the starting role in the backfield five weeks into the season is something that nobody was ready for, but he has more than proved his talent.

During the Seahawks' week five game against the New Orleans Saints, starting running back Rashaad Penny endured a season-ending fibula fracture that required surgery. Having to put Penny on IR, the Seahawks were forced to move Kenneth Walker III into the starting role a lot earlier than they had originally hoped.

Since taking over as the starting running back, Kenneth Walker III has proven to be an absolute gamebreaker, rushing for 424 yards and 6 touchdowns in just four games. Walker is also averaging 22 carries a game over the past four weeks. Walker III is already 4th in the league in rushing touchdowns with 8 more games still to play.

To solidify his starting running back status even further, the NFL named Kenneth Walker III as their Offensive Rookie of the Month for October. Keep in mind that Walker was only the RB1 for three of the five games that the Seahawks played in October, yet he was still able to take home the monthly award. Kenneth Walker III is already looking like a strong candidate for Offensive Rookie of the Year and is establishing himself as one of the shiftiest and most dynamic running backs in the entire league. He’ll look to continue going Super Saiyan on his opponents as he continues his strong play through the rest of the season.
