By the time it’s all said and done this season, NFL GMs may shake their heads for not taking Michigan State running back Kenneth Walker III when they had a chance.

After only his third game as the starting running back, Walker not only looks like a Rookie of the Year candidate, he’s looking like one of the best backs in the entire NFL. Kenneth Walker III has rushed for 410 yards since taking over for Rashad Penny, who suffered a season-ending injury in Week 5 to New Orleans.

Last week against the Chargers, Kenneth Walker III torched Los Angeles’ defense for 167 yards and two scores including a 74-yard touchdown run midway through the fourth quarter. In three October games, Walker has rushed for 380 yards, averaging 126.7 yards per contest. On the season, Walker’s 6.17 yards per carry is now second-best in the league.

Most importantly for Kenneth Walker III and the Seahawks, they’re 2-0 since he took over the starting role and 4-3 after beating the Chargers. That puts Seattle in first place in the NFC West, a big surprise considering how many people expected them to underperform after trading former quarterback Russell Wilson. As for Walker, he could make a run at the Pro Bowl if he keeps piling up 100-yard games while building his case for Offensive Rookie of the Year honors as well.

Next time you see Kenneth Walker III on the field, don’t blink or you might miss one of his electric touchdown runs.
