When discussing the elite running backs in the NFL, a handful of names often dominate the conversation. However, a new star is quickly ascending to join the ranks - Kenneth Walker.

In his rookie season with the Seattle Seahawks, Walker stepped up as the lead back in Week Five of 2021, following an injury to Rashaad Penny. From that moment on, Walker showcased his exceptional speed, leaving a lasting impact. He averaged an impressive 4.6 yards per attempt, accumulating a total of 1,050 yards and nine touchdowns throughout the season.

Walker's explosive speed was just one aspect of his game that caught everyone's attention. His ability to combine precise cuts with astonishing power allowed him to effortlessly evade defenders, boasting a remarkable 31% missed tackle rate.

While Walker's rushing abilities were undeniable, his receiving skills held him back. Nevertheless, he has made significant improvements in this area. He has proven to be consistent in hauling in passes, completing eight out of ten targets for a total of 73 yards, resulting in an impressive 9.1 yards per catch. Among running backs who have played at least 90 receiving snaps this season, Walker ranks seventh in average yards per catch, surpassing notable backs like Travis Etienne, Joe Mixon, Rhamondre Stevenson, Saquon Barkley, and even Christian McCaffrey.

On the ground, Walker has already accumulated 204 yards on 47 attempts, scoring four touchdowns. Although the Detroit Lions managed to contain him in Week Two, in Weeks One and Three, he averaged over five yards per attempt. Walker's ability to consistently utilize his speed and power to force missed tackles has been a significant factor in his success, as he currently holds the highest number of missed tackles in the NFL with seven through three weeks.

At just 22 years old, Walker still has immense potential for growth and improvement. Meanwhile, some of the established top backs like Henry and Barkley appear to be on the decline. While McCaffrey continues to perform at a top level, Walker's consistent progress suggests that he could be vying for the top spot by the end of the season.

Keep an eye on Kenneth Walker as he continues to make waves in the NFL. His electrifying speed, power, and newfound receiving prowess make him a force to be reckoned with. The ascent of this young running back is just beginning, and the football world should take note of his remarkable talents.
